Hillside Farmacy is housed in a Texas Historical Landmark building and was awarded the prestigious Preservation Award in recognition of their work adapting the building while preserving & honoring the neighborhoods history. A welcoming environment reflecting the farm-to-table, community essence of the restaurants menu. The name, “Hillside Farmacy,” harkens to the building’s history as a drugstore and pharmacy, one of the few owned and operated by an African American pharmacist, Ulysses “Doc” Young, in the 1920s. Dine on local farm fresh food surrounded by original building elements & historic pharmacy shelves salvaged from a demolished pharmacy in nearby Elgin.
